ALA 2013, or An Alley Full of Artists

Alternate cover sketch for BLUFFTON

This Friday I'll be heading to Chicago for the annual American Library Association conference. Not only am I going, but this time I will have my very own table in the Artist Alley which is where they contain/corral/quarantine graphic novelists. My table is #2458 and if you stop by, I'll have arcs of BLUFFTON, behind-the-scenes glimpses, Buster prints for sale, and a top secret freebie.

On Friday evening I'll be part of the Comics Quickfire! which will surely be as exciting as it sounds. More so, I reckon. I'll be drawing really fast to cheers and jeers alongside Dave Roman, Raina Telgemeier, Gene Yang, and other Masters of the Sharpie.

For more info on graphic novel festivities, click HERE.

I'll be at the table all day Saturday and Sunday. Sunday night, I'll be going to the Newbery Caldecott Banquet to applaud loudly for my pals Jon Klassen and Peter Brown and all the other winners.
I hope to see you there!

Thank You, ALA!

Just a quick note to thank all the wonderful people I met at the ALA convention. Your passion for books and libraries is inspiring. Also a big thanks to my new pals Tony Fucile , Chris Van Dusen, and Silas House who made signings and speaking in public far less daunting (p.s. get their BRILLIANT books!) and to all my friends at Candlewick Press for bringing me along for all the fun. And it was great to see old friends like the incomparable Holm siblings, Jenni and Matt. The banquet was amazing and for detailed coverage, I'll send you to the blog of the smashingly tattooed Ms. Bird.

And Neil Gaiman is as cool as you would think and also amazingly gracious and nice.

ALA Chicago

Hey there, librarians! I'll be at your annual shindig in the Windy City this weekend. On Sunday from 2-3, I'll be signing ARCs of Storm In The Barn (and possibly copies of Sideshow) at the Candlewick booth (#2147). If you're wandering the stacks, please stop by and say howdy. As added enticement, I'll be signing alongside the immensely talented Tony Fucile and Chris Van Dusen! Hope to see you there.
