phil, i drew the picture in ink then immediately added some watercolor which led to the running. since i was just sketching, i didn't bother to wait for the ink to dry at all. not sure if that would have stopped the bleeding though.
thanks, everybody. sadly, most of my mistakes fall into the "well, i guess we'll be throwing this out before anyone sees it" category.

Beautiful!
And in the words of the wonderful Bob Ross: "There are no mistakes, just happy accidents."
Geez, if all accidents came out looking that great, life would be good.
Also in the words of Bob Ross, "happy trees, happy trees." Okay. Maybe that's off topic. Anyway, fine piece, Matt, as per usual!
I love it. Changes the entire piece. Love your blog/work.
I wish I had more mistakes like that. Full of atmosphere.
What happened? You spilled some water on the illustration?

Oh, No- it looks great-bleeding and all. Maybe you should pull out all that you thought were mistakes out of that garbage of yours!
Lends a gorgeous softness to your already sweet style.
